Bluepoint Games have made a name for itself by remastering Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid, and Uncharted over the years. The developers are currently working on another older title to bring into the standards of the modern gaming landscape for the next-generation PlayStation. In a recent interview with President Marco Thrush from SegmentNext, he offers his feelings about the company’s history of remakes along with his pride toward the upcoming game for Sony.
“We [Bluepoint Games] originally remastered Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 and then remade it for the PS4,” Thrush told SegmentNext. “It’s the only one we’ve touched twice, and to date, it is our greatest achievement, so it’s easy to say that is our personal favorite. However, there’s no question in our minds that our current project will become the achievement we’re most proud of.”
The development has gone smoothly so far. Thrush spoke about the studio’s technology like the Bluepoint Engine and the accessibility of the PS5’s hardware.
“Fortunately the Bluepoint Engine and toolset has been in development for many years,” he said. “We have significantly invested in ways that allow our process of remastering or remaking games to be powerful and efficient. It is flexible and able to take advantage of any hardware.”
Nothing is known as of yet what this mystery remake will be, but plenty of rumors circulate the Internet like the developers working on Demon Souls. The company played with this speculation with references to multiple franchises like Silent Hill, Resistance, Castlevania, Syphon Filter, and Legend of Dragoon on Twitter. Recently after the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx, Bluepoint openly stated its wish to remake the first entry of Valve’s FPS.
So calm this spooky night. A symphony of rumors – not one, but two – return from shadow. A resistance to dart home as black monsters escape twisted hills to wander lands and syphon souls.
