Arena Net announced the Icebrood Sage which will come to Guild Wars 2 September 17th, This news was announced last week during an hour-long announcement event which was hyped up and prior to the event many fans where hoping to hear what the future was for Guild Wars 2 considering Arent Net has had some lay off in the past.
Many fans were hoping to hear a brand new expansion coming to the game or at least some new feature which are coming to Guild Wars 2; however, all we got was a quick look at a few features and a trailer for the Icebrood Saga. Which you can see down below:
When the announcement was made many fans of Guild Wars 2 where not happy with how the game was looking and didn’t feel confident with what the future holds for Guild Wars 2, and when a company is asking players to spend hours upon hours in a game, especially an MMO like Guild Wars 2 they need to know more features/Expansions are in the works, and the future for the game is looking promising. But for Guild Wars 2 that didn’t seem like the case.
However, during an interview at PAX West, Guild Wars 2 Game Director, Mike Zadorojny, didn’t rule out that Guild Wars 2 could see future expansions, as when talking about if free content is the way forward for the game, Mike responded by saying:
“I don’t think we have an answer for that one yet. For us, at least today, we know that with the stuff that we want to give – the quality of life improvements, the story we’re trying to tell – Icebrood Saga is the best way we can deliver free content to our players.”
“now, whether or not we change that method moving forward, we’ll have a different conversation at that point.” PR manager Justin Fassino then added “I think the important thing here, obviously, is that everyone at the studio knows that there’s a demand for an expansion. So it’s not like we’re ruling it out.”
For now, we will just have to wait and see what the future holds for Guild Wars 2. Were you hoping they would announce a new expansion? Let us know in the comments below. If you enjoyed this article, why not share it on social media.
