Animal Crossing: New Horizons seems not to have any issues selling big numbers despite the current coronavirus pandemic. The title sold 1,880,626 retail copies in the first three days in Japan, according to Famitsu.
The sales numbers exclude digital purchases. It does include any sale from physical game copies, download cards, and the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch bundle.
While there are no numbers globally yet, the series has approximately sold 34.74 million copies worldwide. The current record holder in the fourth mainline entry, New Leaf, with a total of 12.45 million copies sold. Then it would go to the second game, Wild World, that has a total of 11.75 million sold.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on March 20 and currently holds a 91 on Metacritic with 63 critic reviews submitted. This marks the highest-rated entry in the Nintendo franchise with New Leaf being in second place with a score of 88 and the first Animal Crossing with an 87.
