The Most Exciting Upcoming Games: A Master list

With the hype of E3 every year we’re showered with new game trailers, release dates and announcements getting everyone all riled up for the next load of video game releases. Then, we hit the worst time of the year for gamers. Summer… Summer is the horrible in-between period for gamers where no new upcoming games are released and we’re all left waiting for late August/September to hit as the releases start pouring in.

With so many upcoming games, we at the Daily Gaming Report have put together a master list of all the games with release dates (as of publication) coming out between now and early next year.

World of Warcraft Classic

Releasing August 27th 2019

World of Warcraft is the biggest, most successful massively multiplayer online role-playing game in existence. Released back in 2004, Blizzard made the game that would dominate the world, and that it did. The game is still a powerhouse, an unstoppable force that continually releases new content and extends its vast and endlessly expansive world and story.

With it being 15 whole years since release, Blizzard have made a bold move in announcing World of Warcraft Classic, a faithful recreation of the original game that released all those years ago. Running smoother with the original combat, skill trees and character models, you can truly experience the game as it was originally, before the expansion packs.

Control

Releasing August 27th 2019

Control is a supernatural, third-person adventure where you control Jesse Faden, the new Director at a secretive agency in New York that has fallen to a supernatural threat. Having to master a plethora of supernatural abilities, customisable loadouts and a living world that reacts to your actions.

Using Jesse, you’ll traverse the deep story of Control as well as the stories of the allies you’ll meet along the way. With supernatural abilities, secrets to uncover and a deep action-packed story, this game is looking to be an exciting August release.

 

Astral Chain

Releasing August 30th 2019

Astral Chain is a brand-new Nintendo Switch exclusive game from one of the best Japanese studios, PlatinumGames. Simply put, you are part of The Ark police special unit Neuron, and you must fight for the Ark, your city felled into chaos by other-dimension beings attacking and polluting the world.

You get to choose to be a male or female protagonist, the one you don’t choose featuring as the younger twin. With an interesting, stylised world, fast paced combat and even some stealth mechanics, this is definitely a game you will want to own on your Switch.

 

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan

Releasing August 30th 2019

From the creators of the critically acclaimed game Until Dawn comes the next bone chilling adventure. With five playable characters, you must help the group of holidaying adventures traverse a ghost ship after they’re trapped by a storm.

With unthinkable horror, help the gang find a way to escape the ship as you learn about its disturbing past. This game is the perfect multiplayer narrative experience, with two player online co-op and up to five players offline for couch play!

Blair Witch

Releasing August 30th 2019

 

First person horror games are an exciting experience and not for the weak of heart, unless you enjoy scaring your friends to death. Blair Witch is the newest first-person horror game inspired by the well-known lore surrounding the movies of the same name.

A story-driven psychological horror game set in 1996, you play as a troubled police officer searching for a young boy who has gone missing. What you encounter on your investigation will leave you sleeping with the lights on.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Releasing September 6th 2019

Monster Hunter World brought the much-loved Nintendo focused franchise to all other platforms (bar Nintendo, ironically) with a massive graphical overhaul. Being a huge success it’s not surprising that everyone is getting excited for the first major DLC for the game.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne brings a new story that continues from the end of the base game, new environments and ecosystems and most importantly, new monsters.

Greedfall

Releasing September 10th 2019

Greedfall is a new RPG from Spiders that boasts a massively enthralling gameplay experience. Filled with monsters, mercenaries and magic this game boasts a wide variety of tantalising genres that combine to create a truly exciting and beautiful looking game

In this massive RPG you must venture to a remote island that may hold the cure for a deadly disease. Encounter settlers, mercenaries, treasures and secrets and behold the fantastical and sometimes dangerous creatures that lurk on the island.

Gears of War 5

Releasing September 10th 2019

After a long period of teasing and waiting, we finally have a release date and more information on Gears of War 5. The fifth instalment of the most acclaimed Xbox franchise other than Halo, are you ready to fight the Swarm again?

Play as Kait Diaz in the campaign and uncover secrets kept from her whilst fighting the Swarm. There are also co-op gameplay modes which will have you spending hours of fun killing the Swarm with your friends.

Borderlands 3

Releasing September 13th 2019

 

Another returning franchise we’ve all been waiting for, Borderlands 3 is finally dropping soon and you’ll be able to shoot and loot to your heart’s desire. With a crazed cult called The Children of the Vault spreading across the galaxy, you must choose from one of four hunters to end their reign and bring the galaxy back to some semblance of peace.

Another game that utilises online and couch co-op multiplayer, you can have endless hours of chaotic fun.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Releasing September 20th 2019

We’re in the golden era of remakes, with some of our favourite childhood games being remade for the new generation and our own nostalgia. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is coming to the Nintendo Switch, fully remastered after its original release on the Game Boy 26 years ago.

Link washes ashore on Koholink Island where he must face dungeons and monsters in order to return home. The remaster will include some 2D elements from the original game for that extra nostalgia sweetness.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Releasing October 4th 2019 

If you’re itching for a new Tom Clancy Ghost Recon game, you’re in luck. Breakpoint is a military shooter available as a solo game or a four-player online experience. You’ll find yourself injured and alone, hunted by ex-Ghosts in this fight for survival.

Work with allies to take down your ultimate foe, The Wolves.

The Outer Worlds

Releasing October 25th 2019

What some are calling a ‘spiritual successor’ to Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds is Obsidian’s new, shiny first-person RPG set in a bright and colourful future.

When your colonist ship is lost, you awake decades later (similar to Fallout, oddly enough). With a deep-rooted conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony you must explore the worlds and meet all the factions, and your influence will decide the fate of Halcyon.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Releasing October 31st 2019

Luigi just wants a holiday! Sadly, whilst supposedly visiting Mario and friends at a luxurious hotel Luigi soon finds out that it was all a ploy by King Boo.

With this frighteningly fun game, you’ll control Luigi as he fights off ghostly enemies. You’ll also have the chance to control Gooigi, a green slime doppelganger of Luigi who can usefully traverse obstacles Luigi cannot.

Death Stranding

Releasing November 11th 2019

Hideo Kojima, the man behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise, has returned with an all new IP, Death Stranding. An open world action adventure game featuring the likes of Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and Léa Seydoux, its likely your gamer mind is salivating.

Based in the near future, global explosions have cause supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With supernatural creatures roaming the land, you must play as Sam Porter Bridges to save humanity from the brink of extinction.

Pokémon Sword & Shield

Releasing November 15th 2019

The new Pokémon game we’ve all been waiting for is almost in our grasp. Pokémon Sword & Shield is based in the Galar region. With an all new system, you’ll be able to explore vast areas in a new ‘over the shoulder’ third person view, where you can even control the camera!

With changing weather, massively vast open world maps and plenty of new Pokémon, the Pokémon franchise has never seen such a big, adventurous and open game.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Releasing November 15th 2019

EA has had a rocky few years with the Star Wars franchise, but it seems the game we’ve all been waiting for is finally upon us. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a story driven third-person action adventure game from Respawn Entertainment.

Using the force and your trusty lightsaber, wreak havoc on your enemies in this new Star Wars story as you quest to rebuild the Jedi Order. With a vast array of environments and your own trusty little droid, you’ll be binging this Star Wars adventure into the early hours of the morning.

Shenmue 3

Releasing Novermber 19th 2019

To hear that Shenmue 3 is releasing this year incites nostalgia in some and confusion in others. For the older generation of gamers, Shenmue was a video game franchise that changes the face of the industry. The closest we have to the Shenmue games today is the Yakuza franchise, which takes a lot of inspiration form Shenmue’s vast open world RPG elements.

Soon, you’ll be able to continue on Hazuki’s adventure which left off over 20 years ago, with new locations to roam, enemies to fight and puzzles to wrap your mind around. This game isn’t just for long-time fans and is definitely worth looking into for RPG lovers.

DOOM Eternal

Releasing November 22nd 2019

The direct sequel to DOOM, DOOM Eternal sees you, the DOOM slayer return to a demon infested Earth that has been laid to waste. With new weapons and demons, this is an exciting heavy metal sequel to look forward to.

In another rip-roaring action adventure, you’ll have to shoot and tear through demons, classic and new, to discover the Slayer’s origins and wipe the demons of the face of the earth.

Gods & Monsters

Releasing February 20th 2020

Gods & Monsters is a new open world action adventure game from the creators of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In this game you must go on quests and battle dangerous mythological creatures led by Typhon, in order to save the Greek gods.

This is an exciting new IP from Ubisoft that lets your face off against your favourite Greek mythological creatures, wielding the power of the gods.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Releasing March 3rd 2020

Cloud is finally in HD! Now that’s out of the way, the Final Fantasy VII Remake is finally coming to our consoles March next year. After a long and agonising wait, we’re finally seeing Cloud and the gang in entirely remastered graphics, with the same graphical prowess we saw in Final Fantasy XV.

With outstanding combat, already proven in Final Fantasy XV, we’re excited to cut through our enemies wielding Cloud’s legendary blade.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Releasing March 6th 2020

Watch Dogs: Legion has the potential to be a ground-breaking game. The main selling point, aside from the neon futuristic London and insane gadgets, is the fact that you can play as anyone. Yes, anyone. Every single Londoner has their own backstory, skillset and personality.

You can customise your recruits and literally recruit any character you see strolling the streets. This may be the first game with NPCs that aren’t actually NPCs, and we’re excited to see how it pans out.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Releasing March 20th 2020

Another hotly anticipated title finally announced for the Nintendo Switch, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, is the next instalment of the much-loved franchise. Tom Nook entices you with the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package to leave your city life and set up camp on a beautiful island.

Collect resources, craft almost anything, garden, make friends, you can do everything and more in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Cyberpunk 2077

Releasing April 16th 2020

After the success that is one of the best games in the world, CD Projekt Red have a lot to live up to. Thankfully, Cyberpunk 2077 looks just as astounding as we wanted. Set in an open-world called Night City, where people worship glamour and body modification, this is a fast-paced action-adventure story. You play as V, an outlaw mercenary after the implant that is key to immortality.

With a massive open world, high customisability and an enticing story, we’re excited for this game.

Marvel’s Avengers

Releasing May 15th 2020

If you’re suffering from Avengers fatigue, then you have about 6 to 7 months to get over it. Marvel’s Avengers is the new, daring superhero game from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix.

With a flashy trailer and the original Avengers, we’re hoping this game lives up to its hype and lets us be the Marvel superhero we’ve always wanted to be.
